Hi
received this by email and thought I’d pass the info on for anyone who didn’t…
FLEADH NUA 2009 BEATS THE RECESSION !!
How is this possible in these times of economic woes? Well here are just some of the things that are FREE at this year’s Fleadh Nua in Ennis, County Clare from 17th to 25th May:
Daily lunchtime sessions;
Afternoon Foinn Seisiún tune workshops;
Nightly Club Fleadh Nua sessions in Cois na hAbhna;
Street sessions and gig-rig entertainment.
Because of the number of free events, one could have a great week at Fleadh Nua without spending a cent - well that is if you’re a teetotaller! However, I’m sure that the organisers would like you to attend one or two of the “pay for” events.
Some of these include a “once in a lifetime” Chieftans concert in Ennis Cathedral, a spectacular “100 Year Celebration” concert by the Kilfenora Céilí Band, performances by the colourful Hounds of Ulster flute and drum band plus the usual nightly céilís, Scoraíocht and Pléaracha competitions, singing club sessions, etc, etc. This is definitely a Fleadh not to be missed!
For overseas people if you book soon you may be able to take advantage of some of the Airlines’ budget flight offers. Accommodation in Ennis is excellent and I’m attaching a list of B&Bs, guest houses and hotels.
More information on Fleadh Nua is given on the Comhaltas website at http://comhaltas.ie/events/detail/fleadh_nua_2009/ and also on the Fleadh Nua website at http:// www.fleadhnua.com . I’ll also send you a copy of the Fleadh Nua NASC with more detailed information on some of the events shortly.
Hoping to see you in Ennis in May 2009.
