Fingering for whistles in different keys...

I was just wondering if I have this figured out properly.
Is it correct that if I know a tune on a D whistle, I can use the exact same fingering on a Bb whistle and it will be ok? It will play the same tune but in a different key, right?
Or am I waaaay off here?
Thanks!

You got it, depending on whether it is in D or G. Then it would be in Bflat or Eflat respectively. In fact, this works with more than just your Bflat whistle…I know what you are thinking…what a great deal!!! Yep, gotta respect the whistle made of tin.

Oh I do respect it! Except this one is a plastic Susato. ;p

Man, those things take some wind in the upper octave, eh? Taking some getting used to after my Generation and Acorn whistles. But I do like the sound of them… sort of flute like.
