I finally started saving for UPs I have been contemplating this for about a year. I decided that I have no need for Border Pipes so the money (only about $20 US) has now turned into money to be spent on UPs. I decided to get a Full set for a few reasons: 1. Just because the Drones and Regs are there does not mean I have to use them. 2. It probably won’t take me but a few months to get all the Drones going (by this time I will already be playing NSPs so bellows no problem and I pick up new instruments realy fast it took me two days after getting my GHBs to have a 3 drones going at once). 3. In the long run I will be spending less money by not paying shipping, Bags, and inflation (what regs cost now in a few years is likley to increase a lot).
I am thinking about the company Greenwood these are real Pipes (no Pakis, and no Plastic) recommended to me a while back by someone else on this fourm (can’t remember who). The price is about $4300 which is a lot of money for me to be spending and this is also one of the best prices I could find on a full set by a real pipemaker and in Blackwood. If you know of a better maker with better prces feel free to tell me. 
From what I’ve seen and heard of Davey’s pipes, there is no reason not to go with him. Plus he has a REALLY short lead time compared to other makers for full sets, another plus. I wouldn’t say that there are “better” makers out there either. It’s really up to personal preference as far as the maker’s style of pipemaking. There are plenty of people on this forum who can give you a testimonial on how great Greenwood pipes are. As soon as I get my Jeep sold, and pay off the Roberts practice set I have now, I’m gonna get a set of drones (followed hopefully soon by regs) from Greenwood Pipes. Congrats on choosing to follow the path to the dark side, and happy piping (after waiting for them to be made that is)!

David Boisvert (Greenwood Pipes) is making me a “C” chanter and if I like it well enough I will up it to a Half or even a 3/4 set. Money is quite tight with me though. My kids are my priority.

I am extremely pleased with my concert pitched cocobolo and boxwood chanter from Davey…so much so that I have ordered new drones and regulators to match (…with massive kuddos going to my wife for agreeing to allow me to drop a sizeable chunk of change on them)!!!
