For anyone who has been to any of the sessions in the Central CT area, Tom Walsh passed away today. He was a fine musician whose family came from Aherlow. He played whistle and accordion, fife too. He, and the late Eddie Burke were stalwarts of the Irish music scene for many years, and always encouraging to beginners.
Tom always wanted to form a group solely of whistles. He gave me my first – a honky Soodlum. I gave him his last, a Thin Weasel. I will miss him badly.
