I was saddened to read on the Uilleann Pipe forum that Thomas Johnson, aka Steampacket, has passed away. For details, see the thread there.

I’m just posting here because Thomas was active on this forum too, and was the keeper of the register of surviving Rudall, Rose, Carte flutes:

I did not know him personally, but greatly appreciated his posts and the work he did for our community. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

His Rudall Register was a great resource.

Oh no…that is so sad. He will be missed. I always enjoyed his posts over the past decades.

Very sorry to hear this. I met Thomas and played in sessions with him on several happy occasions at the Willie Clancy week. I always enjoyed his company and music. RIP.

I too am very sad to learn this. I had been wondering due to his inactivity on Facebook and with updating his R&R Register. A very sad loss.

Awful news. Roz and I were both very fond of Tom. They would often park at our house in Kilshanny when they came over for music and stories.
We will miss him.
