Email for Lehart

Hello,
I have a six key Lehart flute that has several problems. A friend sat on it a few years ago an broke off the tenon of bottom of the top hand section. Ralph Sweet put the flute back together with all the little pieces and epoxy in time for all my gigs at that moment. The flute was grand for a while. When I returned to the states the slide got stuck and Skip Healy fixed it for me and kindly waited till I could pay him (life of a traveling musician). The flute was grand for a while after that (2 years or so) and then fell apart (epoxy fix) in the high humidity of Spain. Slide stuck again and then barrell crack. The c key also broke at one point the whole pad head gone. All the problems with the flute are my own fault. not the makers or repairers. I am bad to my instruments. I play seven nights a week and have two or three flutes going. (Currently Olwell, a very good old german flute and an eflat by Best?) I keep meaning to have it fixed or send it to some one but because I keep moving I never get around to it.
Anyway I am interested in getting in touch with Lehart to have him remake the top section because in shopping around for repairs I think it would cost too much and more than the repair. Does anyone have an email for the maker?
It is an excellent flute and I love the tone but the top hand holes are a bit far for me (I played it for at least six or seven years before I realized this)
I am in Spain so it’s no bother to call but I don’t know if Jil (Gilles) speaks English. Anyone have any experience. By the way I think the best flute would be his embouchre (diamond shaped sort of ) I play against the right edge… with smaller holes. Any Help much appreciated, Pat

Hey Pat,

LeHart does not have an email that I am aware of. But, he does speak english. Tel: +33 296 453603

Hey guy, you may put flutes through hell,
but, holy crow, you’ve LIVED!

Hi ! I’m relieved to read you ! I have a Gil Léhart too and I have played it for nearly 2 years. It’s my first wooden flute. And I have just realized these last days that I have difficulties to well cover the holes, especially the 2 middle holes in each hand ! My husband ( who is not musician) was stil laughing about me yesterday because it took so long for me to realize my problem …

I don’t know Gil Léhart because I didn’t bought my flute from him but I’m in Brittany, so, if I can help …

Hello Nicole,
I read your other topic. I have small hands for a fella. I have no problem when my fingers are straight in a piper grip like low whistles even large holed ones. But when I play flute I use the tips on top hand and piper type grip on the low hand. I have a Medium (Nicholson?) Olwell that is much more comfortable even the small difference makes it much easier THough I prefer the tone of the Lehart the Olwell just feels better. I am also thinking small to med. holes now for my next keyed flute. Have you ever seen or tried a Pol Jezequel flute. I wrote him and his flutes look the business?

I reply by mp

I briefly tried a six-keyed Pol Jezequel flute last summer, and it was a very nice, well-made flute. Small-medium holes, as I recall, and a very slender body. Very light and well balanced (partly lined head), with lightly sprung salt-spoon keys. And I recall noticing the unusual almost diamond-shaped embouchure cut.

Here are some pictures from another thread (the blackwood ones are by Pol Jezequel):
