I promised someone on this board that I would sale them my Burke Session Pro if I found another whistle I liked better, and indeed I have. So, I am putting my Burke Session Pro up for sale, if you are that person you get precedence, but if I don’t hear from him/her anyone can get it. So, I am selling it for $100, I’ll pay shipping. Email me off the board if you want to make the transaction. still not sold
I am also getting rid of my kerry Low D because I just don’t play it anymore, I am playing the flute now. I’ll get rid of it for $40.
I also have this ceramic flute that is in the key of E I believe. It is a beautiful marble blue color (from the heating process in the kiln). It comes with a wooden case. I have no idea how much I will sell it for, but if it’s something you want, or it sounds like it. I’ll let it go for definately under $20. It’s loud.
Ok, thats it!
I’ve been curious and curious about these Syn whistles, I remember the big april fools announcement surrounded by “is it a mini-grinter?” discussion. I’ve read the reviews. I’ve listened to clips. But when a C&Fer sells his Burke because of a Syn, I have to check these things out.
Except I cant find a way of getting a hold of him to order, who knows how?
(insert infamous thread drift)
I’m not saying Burkes aren’t bad, they are amazing. they just don’t fit my ideal whistle. I want something with more backpressure that can handle changing pressures (for emphasis, expression). The syn does it for me. The Burke doesn’t.
The consensus seem to be that it’s a a great whistle for the price.
There was a long discussion about Mr Syn’s identity in this board, until it was finally revealed that it’s John Bloomfield Poindexter. Or something like that. I’m too lazy to use the Search function right now. I confessed to being Mr. Syn, but quickly recanted.
I bought two Syn whistles during that whole Syn beginning uproar and I have to say that I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It’s ok, but it plays very much like a Susato. Still, I think anyone who makes a whistle for that price should be commended.
Mine are available if anyone wants them. I know where at least one of them is.
I just think its funny because a good majority of the high end owners on the board buy a Burke and love it so much. The idea that someone had a burke, and found a whistle that they enjoyed more, so they sell the Burke (instead of keeping it for its tonal difference) and to top it off, its a Syn not to knock syns but the price is right. Well, its an interesting change of pace
Good question, Mark. Actually, our trip to Ireland (in late July/early August) was so eventful and magical that we consider it to have been our honeymoon. We couldn’t top it if we tried, and besides, I am still feeling too, um, sick to appreciate beautiful scenery or accomodations. Our house is peaceful enough.
I’ll add here that Burke brass pro session d whistles are excellent and I ordered a few from Mike Burke just in case I need gifts. I gave one to my new father-in-law and he loved it.
