Here is a copy of an email I received today. It is a scam - I don’t use credit cards in dealing with ebay. Just wanted to make you aware so no one will be taken in.

Recently we attempted to authorize payment from your credit card we have on file for you, but it was declined.
For security purposes, our system automatically removes credit card information from an account when there
is a problem or the card expires.
Please resubmit the credit card, and provide us with new and complete information.
To resubmit credit card information via our secure server, click the following link,
login to your account and resubmit your information:
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn [links to http://cgi3.ebay.com:aw-cgieBayISAPI.dllSignInRegisterEnterInfo&siteid=0co_partnerid=2@66.246.85.165/3bay/]

This is the quickest and easiest method of getting credit card information to us.
Using the secure server will ensure that the credit card will be placed on account within 24 hours.

But a scam by whom? After all, the http address in the message points to ebay.com…

In a nutshell - the scam is by http://66.246.85.165/3bay/ . They’ve set up a fake page to collect IDs. You can report it to ebay here:

I took out my IE irritation on the scammers. :smiley:

I just tried it if you type in any old rubbish as user id and the same for a password it takes you staight to there collection page.
maybe the answer is to type in an incorrect password, if it works its a scam.

RBM that is a VERY good point. Best failsafe I can think of.

Log in incorrectly on purpose folks, and if it lets you in, run away! :astonished:
