I am giving my friend some help with his whistle playing and need an easy reel to teach so he can pair it with Wind that Shakes the Barley.
I mostly play guitar and mandolin, but i do a bit of whistle, so i figured i would help him get started. Problem is, all the reels i know on the mando i figure might be a little hard.
When I began flute, the first reel I picked up was one called The Silvermines. It’s virtually unknown these days; I got it from the Joyce collection. It’s interesting in that it’s a single-part 16-bar reel rather than having two 8-bar parts. I sent it in to C&S last week:
miss mcleods, or the banshee, or mac,s fancy( a jig) would work just fine,
rolling in the ryegrass is annother option that would work well
i have found though, easy and reels are not two words i would put together in the same sentence
