Another question: looking for reel suggestions

I tried looking in the Archives, but couldn’t find anything…

I need to quickly expand my repertoire of reels. Here are the ones I know:

Cooley’s
Drowsy Maggie
Maid Behind the Bar
Wise Maid
Concertina
Rolling in the Rye Grass
St. Anne’s
Silver Spear
Miss McLeod’s
Merry Blacksmith
Wind that Shakes the Barley
Lady Ann Montgomery
Cup of Tea

I’m working on the Bucks of Oranmore, and have the Tarbolton on my list.

What other tunes would be fairly easy to learn?

All tune ggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

My Love is in America
The Star of Munster
The Sally Gardens

I don’t think any of these are especially hard to play, and they are popular at sessions I’ve been to.

Thanks, Martin. I’ll get cracking on them.

Do you have L E McCullough’s 121 Favorite Irish Session Tunes w/ the 4 cds? It has a lot of good tunes, many are easy to learn. Listen to the cd and decide what you like and work on those.

How 'bout:

The Ashplant
Man of the House
Dunmoor Lasses
The Copperplate
Navy on the Line
Eel in th Sink
Dan Breen’s Reel
Glass of Beer

Philo

I think “Boil the Breakfast Early” and “Pigtown” are two tunes that find their way into memory very quickly. They’re the first two that come to mind, anyway!

These three, in the following order, make for a dandy set:

The Bag of Spuds
Spoil the Dance
Imelda Roland’s

Here you can find more than 800 reels, make up your choise : http://home.swipnet.se/~w-11382/abc.htm
