I seem to be able to flatten my lower octave E by raising the chanter off my leg, but it is clumsy and I make mistakes (esp since I already learned the song w/o the movement). Any better solutions? Second octave E sounds pretty nice and A=440. Chanter pretty well balanced - some tape necessary on D and G.
I noticed the problem when accompanying a fiddle. I also noticed that I have to concentrate harder on keeping just the right pressure to get the notes at just the right pitch, since I can hear a difference when playing with fiddle that I cannot hear playing alone. Common?
My wife has picked up the fiddle again after many years. we are learning tunes together. I find it challenging to have my pipes sound “good” with her fiddle, since some of my notes don’t seem as true as hers (esp when I tire).
Advice welcome - thanks
