Drone bore sizes and drone air efficiency

What are the typical sizes for the bores of bass, baritone and tenor drones for D and C/B sets?

I have the feeling that my bass drone consumes too much air.
When I play with only the tenor and baritone drones, it’s very easy.
When I start the bass drone, I feel as if the bag has been suddenly daggered.

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

you might want to check your drone reed. more than likely the leak is coming from there. it may not be seated/sealed into the drone correctly, the toungue of the reed is leaking, toungue open too much, etc.

agreed, it’s more likely to be a reed issue IMO than a problem with the bore sizes.

Bigger bores probably do take slightly more air, but even huge bore Rowsome basses needn’t be unplayably air-hungry.

thanks guys - I have had the same question with my BARITONE drone. When i tap it out - bag pressure is smooth - with it on - I’m pumping much faster. The reed is secure in the seat; but it still takes a lot of air. What can you do to make the reed more air efficiant? I took it out and rolled in my hand - added blu tac - but still it appears to be taking too much air.

Any other ideas?

Slan!
