NOTE - THIS IS ENDING IN 3 HOURS!!! DURING THE DEBATE!!! WHAT TIMING!!! WHY WASTE YOUR TIME ON WATCHING POLITICIANS WHEN YOU COULD BE BUYING RARE INSTRUMENTS FOR CHEAP ON EBAY INSTEAD???
I have just relisted this instrument on eBay. Read the listing for details. This is a non-reserve auction starting at $499
See http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320305311126
Video of me playing this today has been posted at YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEMxeB7Rjnw
(its still processing as of 5:34PDT). I have posted a higher resolution video at
http://www.caseyburnsflutes.com/misc/doubleflageolet.wmv
(50mb in size!) which is available now for viewing.
10% of the winning price will go to the Lyme Disease Association - though I hope www.arghand.org accepts my eBay invitation - in which case I’ll change it (and up it to 15%).
If anyone has questions send me an email at casey@caseyburnsflutes.com rather than by private message.
Thanks!
Casey
Ummm… Casey - are you going to attach a picture?
Pat
there is one on the listing.
Casey, thanks for showing us about www.arghand.org it’s a good cause and positive way to reduce terrorism.
Also pertaining to ARGHAND is Sarah Chayes’ website:
www.sarahchayes.net
Sarah is a former NPR reporter and a book author. She is also a flute player, and has one of my flutes with her in Afghanistan, along with Grey’s tutor and a bunch of CDs that he kindly gave to her. Such people in their good work should be supported in all ways!
There is now a picture of the flageolet exploded (but not run through the chipper!).
Also there are pictures of this at
http://www.caseyburnsflutes.com/doubleflageolet.php
Later today I plan to post a video clip of this being played.
That is, after I wake up and feel a little more photogenic (frankly, I am in the non-photogenic period of my life.Youth and beauty are wasted on the young!). I was in the workshop last night until nearly 4AM working on some bapgipes. Enjoying the energy rush I get when the Lyme Disease symptoms go away (though insomnia is also considered a symptom by some).

I just uploaded video on my site as well as at YouTube.

Note in related links at YouTubeyou might see Mickie Zekley, who is a master at this instrument, playing an original that I may have used as the template. If a recorder maker who does voicings well did a little tweaking on mine, it could possibly play probably more like the original, though it has some fetching qualities of its own left as it is.
Casey
Sounds like it takes a lot of huffin’ and puffin’!
Pat
No - I am just out of practice, not having played it much in the last 20 ears - and feeling nervous in front of the camera!
