I’m currently working on a senior comprehensive project (kind of like a mini-thesis, but given as a presentation with no big paper, and not a huge deal since I’m an undergrad and not expected to do any original research, or have any original thoughts, for that matter) on Sean O’Riada and the development of the Ceoltoiri Chualann. I know there are a number of great recordings of the group, but I wanted to know if there are any scores written by O’Riada himself available to look at. Otherwise, does anyone know of some good transcriptions of the recordings? And, if any do exist, where can I obtain them? (Please help me. I really really really don’t want to have to transcribe this stuff myself. I mean, once I’ve got the tune, it shouldn’t be too hard, but I’m still not very good at learning stuff by ear, and transcribing takes forever.)
