Hi

Does anyone have the music for An Criost an tSiol (air). Prefurably in sheetmusic form as I cannot read ABC notation. There is a wonderfull rendition of the tune on Patrick D’Arcy’ website:

I have looked both on JC’s Tune Finder and TheSession and neither websites have yealded any results.

I wasn’t able to listen to the piece using the link that you gave, but I had a listen to the track through cdbaby.com. I would have suggested just learning it by ear, but it’s played on a flat set so you’d have to be pretty clever to play along on your D chanter. I usually don’t like listening to flat-pitch chanters, but Pat D’arcy’s recording of this piece was really beautiful.

I can’t actually point you towards some sheet music, but just wanted to say thanks for pointing us to the CD (perhaps Pat D’arcy might have a copy himself)

An Criost an tSiol was written by Sean O’Riada and is still in copyright, which explains why you can’t find the sheet music online. But it is listed at the Reel Book, http://www.thereelbook.com, a pay site. This is someone’s hand transcriptions of their CD collection, and the music isn’t very readable–and in this case probably not legal either.
