Devondancer continues to make progress

Lesley is sitting up and whistling (with the mute - not you, mutepointe, the whistle mute!). She has also been writing notes to as many of you kind people as she can manage in a day, so I will be forwarding them all gradually.
Heart is strong and she is nagging the physio to do more - he, of course, has orders to take it slowly!
Hope she may be able to sit in a chair soon, which would be huge progress for her. (And she really wants to be able to get to the loo, of course, after all this time of embarrassment!).
Thank you again for your care and jokes!

Roland, That is such good news! It made my day.

That is the best news I’ve had all day!!!

Warm healing thoughts to her, and to you.

Roland, thanks for the good news. You’ve told us so many personal things that I’m going to overstep my place and ask a question. Is it just you and your wife? Will you have support when she gets discharged? I ask because my wife & I have been in similar shoes. We live away from our families but we did get some help from them when I got back home. Although I was the one who had the surgery, it was really my wife who needed the support.

Everyone who is in a hospital has a social worker and this person might be able to link you with some services if you need some assistance. When I was in the hospital, my social worker was a former boss. She had to do some paperwork for me but she didn’t quite get it right. I had to hand it back to her and ask her to re-do the paperwork. As soon as I got back to work, I e mailed all of my co-workers who knew her. The surgery was worth it.
