Jim Fixx Syndrome. I had it at age forty. A friend of our’s had it last July at age 52. She had just gotten done with a run, seemed fine at first but had a nagging pain in her back left shoulder. She decided to call 911, made it to emergency where the cardiologist, after an hour of tests, told her nothing was wrong. That was the last thing she remembered until the next day when they woke her up and told her she’d had a heart attack and had received two stents. Her insurance rates have gone through the roof even though she had the wit to realize something was wrong and the doctors didn’t.

All the women my age are in mourning. My MIL phoned just to tell my wife. She had a big crush. I’m doing my best to console her.
