They were made in the late 80’s, blackwood, ivory & brass.
Bag and bellows made by Brendan Ring.
all in great condition, set has to be reeded though.

In fact, this is the second of these “chanterless full sets” that has come up for sale lately. Is there a chanter fairy doing the rounds, stealing everyone’s chanter?
Perhaps someone should buy this set and the Lamb/Williams set, and take the Williams chanter and put it with the Williams nearly-full set for a full set!

listen, I’m selling the set without the chanter because I am simply not giving up piping ! I’m just very busy with flute playing and never have time to keep the whole set in good playing condition.
The original Dave Williams was completely destroyed last year when I posted it to Ireland for a new reed. I got it back in hundreds of pieces.
I now play a Tom Aebi chanter in cocobolo and I like it very much and I’m not willing to sell it.

Can you tell us anything more about Tom Aebi? I have not heard that name before. Does he make sets, or just chanters? Thanks.
Tom Aebi seems to be known mostly nowadays for his flutes. He was an apprentice/worked with Andreas Rogge for some years making pipes. His flutes are highly praised. His flutes have been discussed on the flute forum. Tom’s based in Basel. There’s an interview at:

I was on the brink of ordering a flute from Tom when someone threw a Chris Wilkes at me. The Wilkes is a flute that suits me, so I won’t need another flute.

I met him at a tionol over here. He really is an exellent piper (as well). Nearly everybody plays an Aebi-flute over here.
