I’ve heard the very lovely UPing air Dark Lochnagar played a number of times. Listening to Liam O’Flynn play it recently I am inspired to give it a go. Is there a transcription of an UPing version of the tune in existence? A quick search turned up nothing useful.

The tune is so heavily ornamented it is hard to make sense of the underlying melody. Any strategies for ear learning such an air?

JOBM did a highly detailed notation from Willie Clancy’s playing for An Piobaire,. maybe ten, fifteen years ago.

Thanks! I’ve a copy of the HC version and the Cranfordpub setting of Chris Langan. Does anyone have the JOBM transcription done for An Piobaire? “The highly detailed notation” would be a great help!
