Cyclone Odette (Warning), Queensland

Hi Everyone

If you do not hear from me in the next few days it is because we are preparing for cyclone Odette, or we may leave altogether. It developed into a Cyclone in the early morning and seems to be quickly developing into a monster. It’s not expected to hit landfall until Monday or Tuesday as its only a Cyclone (Hurricane) watch at present. The Bureau is expecting that it will be larger than Larry and probably more powerfull than Katrina. Its already twice as large as Katrina and is a catagory three.

I don’t want to even think about what its going to do when it reaches land (shesh). Were all hoping though that it’ll weaken back into a low and just dump a lot of rain. But our chances don’t look good. Please keep the Whitsunday region in your prayers over the next few days, we’ll need it.

Seems like Cyclone Odette is playing games with the Queensland coast. It has weakened back to a category one and looks like it will stay in the Coral Sea for the next few days. It is these cyclones that turn out to be the most devistating. Larry seemed to follow a simmilar pattern. Disaster has been evaded at least for the time being anyway.

Brother, I am with ya’. 2005 was a killer year for the things in my little corner of the world.

Be safe. And if it is looking like the storm is heading your way, leave… really, it is the best course of action.

Good thoughts coming your way.

Take your pipes with you. Oh, and the wife … and the kids … maybe the dog … but DEFINITELY take your pipes! :astonished:
