Crow on the Cradle . . . the Mary Black concert was great!

I had a great time at the Mary Black concert in New Brunswick, NJ last Friday. What a beautiful voice! It’s the first time I have heard her, although I have heard of her before this. she preformed with a small group . . . one guitarist, drummer, bass player, and accordian/keyboards. They managed to make a beauiful sound. Mary even picked up the bodran for a song or two . . . one for a version of “When Johnny comes marching home.”
She sang “The crow on the cradle,” obviously for it’s anti war message. I was quite proud of her for doing so . . . but my father didn’t approve. He didn’t clap at the end of the song.
Boo!
I am mildly miffed, but then again, my father doesn’t always approve of me. I don’t approve of him a great deal of the time, either.

Anyway, if Mary’s in your area, see her perform!

I really enjoy Mary Black’s music-- what a voice! Crow On The Cradle is a really intense (thought-provoking/emotional) song, and I can only imagine what it was like hearing it in person. Thanks for your post on the concert… it sounds like it was really wonderful!!

All the best,
Andrea
