My D whistles will be available for sale in Ireland through www.irishmusicalinstruments.com very soon.
They will be selling my original model, the cpvc head, delrin plug, brass body.
Depending on interest, other designs will be available at this store in time.
Of course all models are currently available from www.thorntonwhistles.info
Happy tootling!

Gee, ya know, that design looks an awful lot like…
NOTHING I’ve ever seen before.
I like the wooden fipples. Classy!
Congratulations and good luck.
Mike
slowair,
Thanks for the nice comment.
The design came around by accident. I knew what I had to do to create the fipple and this is what happened. I’m kinda suprised that no-one else came up with the same design before.
And for those who bite on the mouth pieces, I make the mouth piece longer and flatter so you can rest the whistle on you bottom lip. I’ll post more pics on my site so you’ll know what I mean.
When I was a kid geting lessons fron Denis O’Brien, he’d give me dogs abuse if I bit the whistle.
“You have 2 hands to hold it. Don’t eat the feckin thing”
And for those that are interested, the sound I’m looking for is the old style generation or oak whistles sound.
Just a sweet sounding D whistle with a little chiff . If your a fan of Clarke or Overton or Kerry, well don’t buy mine.
I’m not disrespecting those makers at all, I’m just saying that mine sound different.
In fact I have few Overtons in my posession and I love them! I also have a beautiful Pat O’Riordan low d thats heaven!!!
If I ever get around to making low whistles, that will be my template!
Anyhow,
Happy whistling to all!
Tommy
So you’re the one! I was beginning to think that it was a thing of myths.
