After months of development, I’ve finished work on the Freeman tweaked key of A Generation whistle.
As I’ve described in other threads, I developed a tweaking scheme that optimizes a Generation Bb whistlehead to the key of A and fits a key of A tonebody I designed for the purpose. This is a brass bodied whistle with the familiar Generation redtop whistlehead.
I’m extremely pleased with the result. I will await your comments, but my impression is, it’s even better than the tweaked Bb Generations.
The price is $44.50 plus $5.55 per order postage anywhere in the world. You can use http://www.paypal.com, with jerry(the symbol for “at”)tcenet(dot)net as the email address for PayPal, or you can send a check to:

Either way, please include a message/note reminding me what it’s for.
At present, this is the only way to get a Freeman tweaked A Generation. It isn’t yet on my eBay store or available through any of the retailers.
I’ll post soundclips and a photo as soon as they’re available.
Great idea - a good whistle in A is very hard to find at that price. Just curious - how thick is the brass tube, and how does it compare with the Gen Bb tube (which feels a bit flimsy to me).
I got my new tweaked A the day before yesterday and it is, to employ an over-used but appropriate word, awesome. It has that tamed-Gen sound Jerry is famous for and is nicely in tune thru both octaves. Volume is very even across both octaves. The high F# (B on a D whistle) is especially nice; it is a bit louder and one octave higher than the low F#, that’s it! G# needs a little push like most Gen-style whistles. Gnat is in tune with either oxxxox or oxxxxo. The hole spacing is good, my medium-sized hands can play a normal grip with only slight stretch to B3. In this respect it is a bit smaller than my Susato A and about the same as my Dixon A. Yes, I’ve been looking for the perfect A for a while. The Susato has character but is too loud and aggressive sounding while the Dixon is an easy player but lacks character. Jerry’s new A is just right: lots of character in an easy-playing whistle. I’ve always thought Jerry’s Mellow Dog C was my nicest whistle, I may have a new favorite. Thanks, Jerry.
What can I add to walrii’s statement? He nailed it.
I got my A from Jerry last Friday and it has become an instant favorite. I can’t stop putting it down and my wife is loving the fact that I sit my high D’s down for a while. Better get one before Jerry changes his mind. I’ll post some sound samples this weekend.
I agree. Got mine about a week ago, and it’s awesome. The cross fingered C (G on this whistle) is a little sharp, but usable, or of course 1/2 holing it works great.
I really like the pure tone of the brass, not too much chiff, but just a touch breathy (in a good way).
Worth more than double the asking price!
WooHoo!. A is just the nicessst key (apart from B) .. Sooo versatile ..mmmm …
erm - you wan’ a Star stick in the pics? I’m 16 1/2 inches long - I make a great comparison .. I can send my CV and portfolio? (My agent will arrange the airfairs ..?)
I dropped a check in the mail today11/11/2010(will go out tomorrow)for your Freeman tweaked key of A Generation whistle. Please be on the look-out for my order. I love your Whistle’s and look forward to this new A Whistle. Regards, Mickey
I have a Shaw A and the spacing is okay (better for me than a Sausato which I played once) and I recently played a Chieftain which had amazing hole spacing. Can anyone compare Jerry’s spacing with the Shaw or the Chieftain?
