There’s a few things to announce this month, and more detail is available on my web site http://www.parkswhistles.com, but here’s the summary:
New three-piece Every whistle is now available. Called the “Every Walkabout” it is a standard Every whistle with another joint between your hands to facilitate carrying the whistle in a pocket or purse.
See my site for more details. (You can add a Walkabout body to your current Every Whistle.)
2) Dealer announcements – I now have four dealers scattered around the world carrying my whistles. There are handy links on the right side of my web site. The dealers are:
a. The Irish Flute Store - run by our own Doc Jones http://irishflutestore.com/
b. Oz Whistles - run by our own Mitch Smith. My whistles are not on his site, but he has them. If you’d like one contact Mitch. http://ozwhistles.com/
c. Big Whistle Music - A purveyor of all things whistle that many here are familiar with. Phil Brown is a great guy. He tells me that he will shortly have the Parks Whistles showing on his web site, as soon as he digs out from under the work that is recent Big Whistle Weekend brought upon him. http://www.bigwhistle.co.uk/
d. Danil Panafilov – Has a couple web stores for folks in Russia and Moscow to buy whistles and other musical things. http://dpshop.ru/index.php?cPath=31_37_58
3) Free shipping for the rest of May – To celebrate my birthday I’ve declared a free shipping holiday until the end of the month.
4) Happy Birthday contest – Send me a clip of yourself playing Happy Birthday (let me know if you need the sheet music ) and I’ll post them on my blog. Best one gets a hat or gig bag. See the web site for details.
It was a good birthday. I’m quite full of good food at the moment. But the last was not cake, but rather Key Lime Pie. I am in Florida after all. Here’s the recipie we use http://www.bakespace.com/index.php?mode=listing&act=show&lst_id=20638 in case you like Key Lime pie. We juice the limes rather than buy the juice. Yummy.
Don’t forget to play happy birthday on Tuesday. The big 40. It’s nothing really. Just an excuse for people to send black cards. But take some time and learn a new tune for yourself.
I’m not too worried. Since life expectancy is around 80 years here, I’m only half way. And since the first years are spent unaware, the next ones in school and then at work, I figure it’ll only get better.
Even better, I’ve picked up playing the whistle about 3 years ago and can look forward to getting better at that. By the time I’m sixty, I might even be decent
Got it today, Carey. Very nice! Sounds just as good as the original, and very compact.
The only shortcoming I can find is that when I have it spot on tuning, the head is all the way down, so can’t adjust sharp to match others. Not usually a problem though.
