Cold turkey is not nice.
I suspect Rich did it deliberately so that we’d know what life without C&F would be like.
Heh, no, Rich did it deliberately because the new disk controller had issues. That, plus only working on it outside of work hours, plus having to back up and restore an awful lot of data dragged the upgrade a bit longer than expected. (Actually, Petro did it; Rich was down in Boston.)
(A safe rule of thumb for calculating intent: if the forums are unavailable, there’s a very good chance my own email is unavailable too. 
)
But it shouldn’t happen again for a long time, and things ought to be running a bit faster now.

A search on the word whistle pulled up all 6064 entries in… in… in… like 4 seconds.
I actually went into WITHDRAWAL. Glad this board is back…whew…
I was afraid – seriously afraid – that the IT guys at work had blocked my access. I was checking the board every five minutes. I finally spiralled downward into a pitiful, whimpering depression. “Please let it be there. PLEASE let it be there. …”
