There is a wealth of field recordings “available” on the comhaltas archive site. Perhaps I missed something (I’m fairly certain I did), but I’ve signed up for an account, (not as a guest) to the comhaltas archive. I can only listen to 31 secs of any track. Any ideas?
It’s a bug, I have the same problem now.
really? did they confirm that? any news on it getting fixed?
Someone over on the session.org asked the same question recently, and Brendan, who seems to administer the audio files answered the query (on the 19th March), see the quote below;
Hi. Sorry for the difficulty, but it should be short-lived.
Basically, I’m running through and doing some fix-up processing on the bulk of the tracks that are in the Séamus MacMathúna collection, trying to improve sound quality a bit and raise the volume on tracks that were too soft before.
Until I complete the processing on all of the Séamus MacMathúna tracks, I’ll just have 30-second previews up on the public site, but the longer versions will be restored shortly. I’m also going to be changing the watermark sound for the full-length pieces to be a lot less intrusive, so there’s that to look forward to!
In the meantime, you might enjoy browsing through the Comhaltas LPs and cassettes without interruption:
http://comhaltasarchive.ie/search?tab=tracks&q=collection:"Comhaltas+Sound+Publications"> +
and then you can add other search terms to the search box from there.
Enjoy!
Cheers,

Brilliant! Thanks very much for taking the time to post that. It certainly pertinent! I hope for all of you C/F readers who have not investigated those archives, to a very least take a look at all of the great stuff that is going to be available. It’s priceless!
