I was reading the APOD article, and clicked the link for “long lost electron”.
Apparantly, some Wisenheimer couldn’t resist linking to a particle physics “joke”:
The Hydrogen Atom’s Lament
A hydrogen atom and a helium atom go into a bar.
The hydrogen atom is clearly upset and moans, “I’ve lost my electron, my only electron!”
The concerned helium atom says, “Just calm down now … are you sure you’ve lost it?”
The hydrogen atom replies, “Yes, I’m positive!”
(Later, a neutron walks in to the same bar. He sits down and says to the bartender,
“Hey, how much for a beer?” The bar tender looks at him and says, “For you, no charge!”)
With research assistance from an amateur astronomer, I’ve labeled some of the most brilliant stars of the California Nebula.
Of course there are many more I haven’t labeled!
It’s impossible to see at this resolution, but the lovely star Feadoginnia has a small planet.
Also, I was informed of several stars that are missing from the map! Eskin M is located very close to MT Sapientissimus; Alanum is near Eilambylia. Also missing are Flutera SB, Cromus D, Wokhill MI, and Pedestrans Hydrocalorens.
