Clarke origeonal C

my clarke origeonal C has the wood fipple, and it has shrunk, or the chiff got bent, or sumthin, but the damn thing wont stay put, and it sounds weird. air slips out the sides, and my usually bad playing sounds sloppy. im pissed! :swear: any advice would be appreciated! thx!

Get a new one. That’s all I can think of.

Fill the cracks with sticky tack or anything else that would fill the voids.

Or you could just buy a Feadog, Generation, Clare or Waltons

Ron

Does Clare or Feadog even make C whistles???..

I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE WISTLE!!! ill try sticky tack

Feadog makes a C whistle in brass or nickel plate.

Never seen or heard anyone talk about one untill now.

A Clarke original in original tin only costs about 5 bucks at The Whistle Shop, if I remember right.

They’re very good. I find them much gentler than the Feadog D (which I also love). They’ve been around for years and in the UK most outlets that sell the Feadog D also seem to stock the C.

Jerry Freeman uses a modified Feadog C head on his excellent Mellow Dog whistle.

Any reason someone wouldn’t just use a vice/hammer/rock to help hold the plug in?

Why not just bite it into place!

The sweetest whistle I ever heard was a busker I saw who had nibbled his old gen till the beak was more like a Susato! (His dog could fetch coins as well - pure art).

Epoxy glue would be my first choice.

The fipple plug on my Shaw is held in place with what looks like nail holes. No nails, just 5 holes on each side that just poke through and push some of the metal into the plug to anchor it. Its kind’o’ugly, but it works pretty well. If you try that, be sure to jam a paper towel or something into the airway to hold the plug in place first.

Thx. that might work, ill try it!
