Terry McGee posted this on the woodenflute list about Chris Norman’s flutes which he has seen:

I enjoyed the opportunity to see Chris’ hardware, in particular the blackwood
copy of his boxwood Rudall & Rose, and his boxwood flute d’amore in A. The
Rudall copy, made by Rod Cameron, has holes about as small as any Rudall I’ve
seen. Very nice work on the wide engraved bands. The 1-key d’amore, although
very long, had a not-too-bad stretch and a very sensuous tone. Unfortunately,
little seems to be known of its provenance, other than it is suspected of being
made in the US in the 1970’s. Gray Larson had it for a while.

Yes, Rod Cameron makes a copy of Chris’ flute, which is indeed a boxwood Rudall & Rose with small holes.
Price I think is in the area of $5,000 or so? Not sure. I got to play the original a few years back. Great flute, very responsive and especially well-suited for Chris’s style.
I know of another out there who has the specs to that flute, a very fine maker, but I can’t divulge who that is since I think Rod has the corner on the duplicates of the flute.

We also have to remember that Chris plays several flutes (don’t we all). The blackwood model he plays exclusively with Skyedance. On
“Man With the Wooden Flute” and “Beauty of the North” Chris uses his early 19th century R&R 8-key Boxwood flute (restored). The “Chris Norman sound” cliche comes from this oldie but goodie flute. Chris also plays an Anonymous Cherry wood flute in A on “Beauty of the North”.
