Please forgive the bump - but if you can find a way to get down to Parsippany for the convention next weekend, you really ought to give it a try. You don’t need to be a CCE member, or an expert musician, to come on in and have a great time.
If you want to stay over and the hotel is full, push them a bit. Cancellations do happen all the time, and they also can probably help you find another hotel in the neighborhood.
Probably not. If I were, then I’d be better looking, much more talented, a lot funnier. But since my grandfather Madden’s family farm back in Ireland was only about 15 miles from Joanie’s roots in Portumna, well, who knows. Again, the genetic evidence argues against it.
I plan to be there for the Sat whistle workshops, even though it means gettin on the road at 5:30 AM!
Well, if you can only do the one day then Saturday is the one to pick for sure. You’ll want to stay late though because of the sessions, and also, check out the line-up Joanie’s pulled together for the Saturday night ceili! Wow, I’m gonna want to stay in there and just listen. I’ll see you in the whistle classes - I signed up for L.E. McCullough in the morning and Joanie Madden in the afternoon.
Find a way to stay, if you can. The party just does not stop.
Bump (this will be too good to miss)
I convinced my wife to come along, so we will drive down on Sat and we’ve booked a room at the convention hotel so we can stay for sessions and Cieli.
You won’t be sorry. Plan on attending the Saturday night banquet. There will certainly be a speech or two, but there is lots of music and dance laid on for entertainment. That’ll run until 9ish, and then everyone moves on to the ceili, and sessions start to break out all over the place; halls, lobbys, elevators! These guys will sit down anywhere and play.
