Can someone please tell me what this is about?(New Flook cd)

I don’t know if anyone has posted this, but I found this flook album on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BHPBG0/myspace08-20?dev-t=D2WQY839001DMT%26camp=2025%26link_code=xm2

do they have an album coming that isn’t released in america yet?

Looks like it:

I was just wondering if they had a new album, as it happens. Can’t wait!

I checked at their website and there was no specific reference to this album, but in the “On the Road” section there was mention of doing more tracks for the new CD. I would have thought they would have more about it, but…maybe the cover isn’t ready yet. If you like them, you’d probably find their website interesting. They tour a lot and the “On the Road” part has lots of photos of interesting places.

At a concert earlier this year (Feb), there was banter regarding being in the recording studio - about end of March.

I’ve pre-ordered the CD anyway - release date in UK 7th Nov,
so I’ll let yer know later that day!

HTH

THey are in the middle of their tenth anniversary tour and this is their new album to celebrate.

From there newsletter:

FLOOK NEWS

Welcome to Flook News.

There’s not much news to report this month. We’re still working hard putting the finishing touches to the new album, which will be available in mid October. Gig wise, we are heading out west to St Ives in a couple of weeks and then looking forward to our return visit to Belfast’s fantastic Open House Festival (http://www.openhousefestival.com) at the end of the month.

Please book early for our 10th Birthday Tour Dates. All details are below. Sorry there’s no gig in Wales on the tour, but we did play in Cardiff last night which hopefully makes up for it a bit.

Elsewhere, look out for an extensive tour of the USA next year - even reaching as far as the west coast…finally!

thanks a lot for this info.

I had heard that there was a new one coming out.

I hope it’s as good as the Rubai disk!

be sure to get flatfish and flook live! too!

Live is very hard to get in the states and Flatfish always costs about $22 which is a bit expensive for a CD.

good reminder Amar, thanks! I had a bit of a time deciding which CD I was going to buy and a few songs like “Pressed for Time” clinched the deal for me.

Isn’t the Flook site the only place you can buy the live album? Anyone know for sure?

not sure if any other site sells the live! album. went to the flook site, not even sure if they’re selling it at the moment…might wanna write them a mail to enquire..

Good idea Amar, thanks again

Wow! a tracklist and an album title…
and to find it on Amazon.com first :boggle:

I guess the band has been busy recording, touring and preparing their 10th birthday. The above quoted newsletter was also the latest I heard.

They tried out a few of the new tunes during their gig in Copenhagen last year. Sounded great, as usual!

While waiting for the new Flook,
Michael McGoldrick’s new album “Wired” is scheduled for release in a weeks time

FLOOK NEWS

Welcome to Flook News. Well, we’ve some good news this month - at last,
our brand new album, Haven, is finished. We were racing against the
clock to get it mixed and mastered so it would be ready in time for our
birthday celebrations, but we did it, and we’re really happy with it.
We hope you’ll like it too. You can order it now from our website and
copies will be dispatched in 2 weeks time - that way you’ll get your
copy way ahead of when it will be available in the shops. The official
release date is November 7th, and we’ll be celebrating that evening
with our London show at The Purcell Room on the South Bank, and at our
after show party (venue yet to be announced but you’ll all be very
welcome).

Haven features some great new tunes, and some fantastic guests - we’re
really pleased that Ewen Vernal (bass) and Seckou Keita (percussion)
were able to join us again; you will be familiar with them from Rubai.
This time we also invited the amazing Leon Hunt to play his 5-string
banjo and the brilliant Padraig Rynne to play concertina. Catriona
McKay played some lovely harp, Andy Davies played Hammond organ, and
our very own Mark Tucker added his e-bow acoustic guitar to the final
mix. Special thanks to Mark for staying up well past his bedtime to get
it all done on time. We couldn’t make the albums we do without him.
Thank you!

Other news this month: We are playing a showcase on Thursday October
27th for anyone who is attending the world music expo, WOMEX, at The
Sage Gateshead, and we have some new dates to announce for those of you
in Ireland. We’re performing at the Imagine Festival in Waterford on
Sunday October 30th. Later in November we’ll be down in Limerick and
West Cork. All details are below.

Meanwhile, our 10th Birthday is coming up fast. Please book your
tickets early for these special concerts, come and party, and help us
celebrate 10 years of making music together.

Oh, and this is very short notice, but if you happen to live in
Lichfield or London, Brian is playing a couple of gigs this weekend.
Billed as “Brian Finnegan and Friends”, these concerts will be a rare
chance to hear the beautiful Aran Islands singer, Lasairfhíona Ní
Chonaola (http://homepage.eircom.net/~seannos/Home.html). Brian will
will also be joined by Tim Edey on guitar and Sarah on alto flute and
accordion. You can hear them at Lichfield Guildhall
(http://www.lichfieldarts.org.uk/main/whatslist.ihtml?m=10&y=05#270)
tonight, Friday October 7th, and tomorrow at London’s Hammersmith and
Fulham Irish Centre (http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/irishcentre/).
