Can old whistles die?

My old Generation D seems to have given up the ghost! I cleaned the bore thoroughly, dried it off with my handy dandy chopstick and gauze, and it’s sounding pretty mangled! I can’t seem to find anything wrong with the fipple, but it seems to be pretty worn. Any suggestions?

why do I sense a case of WhOA coming on? I see a new inexpensive whistle in someone’s future .

Anna, have you tried taking the fipple off and making sure that there wasn’t something stuck in there like a piece of gauze? I would take the fipple from this one, and the body from another one, and see if you can narrow the problem down to the old fipple, or the old body. I would then try a turn or two of tape on the old body to see if the joint is the problem.

My tuppence.

Thanks, Tyg, will do as you suggest and report in! My whistle is my muscial teddy bear!
