C recordings

any comercial recordings of C sets available, all the latest recordings seem to favour the B sets?

is there much difference in finger span between C and B, is C largest span?

David Power plays a Froment C set on his “My Love Is In America”.

Gabriel just beat me to it.

That cd had as much an influence on me when I started piping as ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ had on moody teenagers in the 90’s.

And on his 2nd CD too, Cuaichin Ghleann Neifin.

Brian McNamara plays approx. half of the tunes on his 2 CD (Fort of the Jewels and Piper’s Dream) using a Wooff C set.

Brian McNamara plays a Geoff Wooff C set.

That depends entirely on the maker.

I have a Gallagher C chanter which has a narrower span than my B Angus chanter. My Angus C chanter has a slight wider stretch on the right hand than the B, so it depends on the design.

Too bad he has a fecking guitar or harp thrashing along beside it.

I did’nt like ‘A Pipers Dream’ at all, with the exception of the opening track, and the slow air ‘Ní Ar Chnoc Nó Ar Ísleacht’. Why do pipers feel the need for accompaniemnt? They have it already-they’re called the regulators :moreevil:

More pipers should go down the David Power route…just the sound of flat pipes by themselves on their own make for a brilliant recording.

Don’t forget Emmett Gill’s recording - about 50% of the tracks are played on his Koehler and Quinn C set.

It’s not really “available”, but keep an eye out for Pat Mitchell’s “Uilleann Pipes.”. One of the finest.

“Reed Only”

Brian Mc.

Some more C pipes solos. CD’s /tapes I have.
