Hi
I’m thinking about buying a wooden flute in the key of c natural, does anyone have any suggestions for makers of good flutes in this key, and which are available on a short waiting list.

Casey burns
Yes, he does!
Ralph Sweet.
Yes he is! ![]()
For this I struggled as a child to acquire literacy?
Glauber is playful tonite!
If you come to the Houston Flute Summit, you could try a Casey Burns C in boxwood!

I have a good Sweet low C in cherry for sale.
PMs if interested.
I have a Sweet low C and it is just ok. The upper register is flat compaired to the lower. I have noddled around endlessly with the cork and have managed to minimize it to the point where I can “lip” it into tune. Still, it’s a pain. I got it for a good enough price that I still feel I got my money’s worth.
Now I am waiting delivery of a Casey Burns low A monster flute. And if that turns out well then I think I’ll order a C from him.

Olwell will make you a C in bamboo with very little wait. I don’t know what the stretch is like on a conical C flute.
Doc
Grinter?
Which reminds me, did Mr Crawford ever get his Grinter C returned after it was stolen in NZ?
You might contact Ralph Sweet, who is a lovely fellow and
will likely be of help. Mine is well in tune.
CBs low A headjoint takes a Bb body too, as you know.

Yes, I think that is a good idea. Trouble is I use the thing regularly in gigs as it has been incorporated into a number of tunes my band does. I could go to the C whistle while I wait… but I would miss that sonerous low sound.

i’m waiting a c flute from Tom Aebi, it will be fully keyed (as I play a lot
in a non irish music band together with an italian accordion player, who plays a c&g accordion).
I’m going soon to try his first prototype and i’ll keep u all informed.i think it will be great (and heavy
)

dear all
many thanks for all your comments and advice - I had a look at the Casey Burns site, and his stuff looks excellent, is reasonably priced, seems to get good reviews from people on this site, and his waiting list is about 2-3 months.
many thanks
His boxwood C is a winner.
