Any suggestions on makers of low C flutes (possibly in Europe)? I’m looking for a keyless one, and not too expensive…

Have one. Big spread left hand, needs piper’s grip in right. A beast, but mighty with a huge bore. No swapping a D head on this beauty … Geert Lejeune in Brugge. You have to work for it but this flute produces such a huge sound that any D/C flute combo sounds downright wimpy. Geert is not the greatest when in comes do diddly detail work with his flutes, but damn if he doesn’t have a great design and embouchure cut. Smoking flutes.

Casey is not from europe… Gilles is still a bit expensive, but i’ve tried one of his C flutes and is very nice. The Lejeune option seems interesting, I’ll contact him (he didn’t put the price for the C flute

Kindly note: The request does not require the maker to be in Europe. If you want the request to require that, better to leave out ‘possibly.’
by the way Casey’s C flute fingers about as easily, if not more so, than many D flutes.
No need for piper’s grip. Lovely flute, mine is. Also, though I haven’t checked lately,
I don’t think it’s too expensive.

If you are looking for a good-sounding low C flute at a lower cost, I think that you should also consider a polymer flute. Here, Arbo, one of our Chiffers, is playing my low C flute. I think that it sounds pretty good even though the post office nearly broke it in two during shipment. I quit sending flutes in long boxes after that mishap, and I haven’t had any damage since then, knock on pvc.

Methinks the poster was merely embracing the ambient pop rationality in these forums.
The problem with american flutes is that you get to pay 20% more, which is a lot, and euro is not that much stronger than dollar anymore. Finger stretch is not going to be a problem is any case…
I play one of Terry McGee’s that is a beut. I don’t know how the Australian dollars stack up against the Euro at present; but the flute is great.

Terry makes diffrent types of flutes (especially one can select diffrent mouth holes/ materials/ tuning slide/ tenons etc)
I would like to see more detail about your C flute.

His Delrin Eb is the business.
In Europe, the blackwood Sam Murray C that Louise Mulcahy plays is pretty awesome. I would fight someone for that flute.
