Buying Student Flute Help

I need to purchase a student flute for my daughter. I would appreciate suggestions on reliable places to buy from on the web and also on manufacturer and type.

I recommend a tony dixon polymer flute for a starter. I started on a dixon one piece and it was a great instrument for the price, 30 dollars, I seem to remember. I ordered mine online at Hobgoblin music. You can’t go wrong with this flute. In my opinon anyways.
I’ve also heard good things about the hammy hamilton practise flutes and I think they’re relatively cheap as well. You can order them at shannaquay.com I think. Anyways, I hope this is helpful.

If you mean an Irish flute, I would say Tony Dixon also. You can get a low D duo for about eighty-five dollars. I got one about a month ago, and I like it a lot. I couldn’t play the flute at first because I was so used to concert flutes, but eventually I sort of adapted to it and now I like it a lot. Plus if you get the duo she’ll have a low whistle too, which is nice. I always play the flute for a while, then change it to a whistle and play that, then change back to the flute… it’s a fun instrument. It’s probably the cheapest good-quality student flute out there. Good luck!

I would definitely recommend an Olwell Bamboo flute. It is both inexpensive and high quality. Excellent flute for beginners.

I have one and also have the Dixon Duo. There is no comparison. The Olwell is head and shoulders above the Dixon.
