Greetings,
I have finally caught up with my orders for the budget sets and the wait time is back down to 2 months. I also just did a big re-printing of my piping books.
Any interested write me or give me a ring at (919) 929-2048 or check out my website: http://www.patricksky.com
It’s good to see that someone is making reasonably priced practice sets.
When I started playing the guitar, my first guitar cost me $50. I eventually graduated to an Ovation which cost me nearly $1,000 and which I love dearly and wouldn’t trade for anything. The idea of starting out with an instrument that costs $1,000 would have totally discouraged me. When I started piping, I was lucky in that I bought a good practice set (which I still play) from a friend who had given up trying to learn. I got the set for $500 - a bit of a jump for a first instrument, but still a bargain by today’s standards.
Being one of the few UPipers in Quebec, I get a lot of enquiries from people interested in taking up the instrument. When I mention that the basic instrument costs $1,000, that puts off about 90% of people. The other 10% lose interest when I tell them that that’s US$ and corresponds to approx. CA$1300. This leaves many people with the choice of paying lots of money for something they don’t know they will continue playing, or buying Pakistani versions which’ll probably just put them off the instrument altogether.
Koudos to you for meeting the beginner half-way with your budget practice set.
