Brian Howard

Just like to give a big thumbs up to Brian Howard for the work he did on my newly aquired Howard pipes made in 1979. The pipes needed all reeds all round, keys freeing in thier mounts and some new pads, after lying idle for some years. Brian completed all the work while i watched in his workshop in about 4 hours. He even put tuning slides in all the drones and chanter and the set now sound wonderful.
I was made most welcome and his wife Dorothy fed and watered me. Brilliant customer service.

Thanks again Brian

Congratulations! Brian is indeed very helpful and prompt in his service. He’s also very generous with his time to answer questions on the phone.

Thanks for the complement.

Can I pint out (before somone else does) that the drones already have tuning slides. I fitted brass tubes in the drtone ends for the fitting of eaydrone nreeds and tuning slides for the chanter and regulator reed.

Uilliam

I don`t know Uilliam, i sell me vpipes, buy a proper set, and still ye na happy, trying to get me banned off the forum for a comment i made aboot a mythical clog maker from North Yorks.

ferris old mucker, whit ye on aboot today…?
a) The remark I made in jest was to Brian no yoooo :really:
b)I am happy that ye are happy aboot yer various transactions
c) I didnae try and get ye banned. That ,amigo mio ,was entirely of yer own doing. :poke:
Anyways I think the penalty fer breaching the rule was not banishment but suspension.Neither of which ye got so I guess the rule no longer exists..especially as ye are still digging awa with a so called mythical clog maker frae North Yorks. Why can’t ye just let it rest.?As Big Yin said let he cast the first stone be without sin?So afore ye give clog makers a bad name reflect a bit.
Uilliam

Uillium, your right, and i took your advice and spent some time on reflecting on the mythical clog maker from the historic North Yorkshire town.

I should be throwing bloody boulders not stones !!!

Ach, well on yooooor head be it then :really:

Hi Uilliam

No offence taken as ye have gathered spelling is not Brian’s forte especially when he is in a hurry, needs me around to check on him.

What he lacks in spelling he more than makes up in his reedmaking and pipemaking

I have it on good authority also that motorways and directions are not his thing especially when a full scale piping conversation is happing at the same time with an equally eager passenger

That is exactly right. Like a good engineer he has reconfigured these parts of his brain and has redirected them to be used in reed and pipe making. Brian is the genius of Sheffield!

Anyhow uillium, your grammar is hardly perfect in that your posts spelling is awful. Ye nook what I mean wee man?

I can heartily recommend Brian’s work, I bought a new chanter from him last year which I thought wonderful! He recently “fettled” it (a Sheffield term) and it now sounds even better! Think of it as an annual 10,000 mile free service!
