I’ve seen a lot of good comments on Brian’s flutes but can’t find a way to contact him. I’m wondering what his keyless flutes cost and waiting time is? And does someone have a picture ? Thanks, John.

P.S. And what’s the deal with all these Byrne flutes turning up lately? Do we have just a few being passed around, or do we have a lot more new “new” (as opposed to used) owners out there?

If I may be so bold as to speak for Carol . . . :slight_smile:

The rings and slide are sterling on Carol’s Byrne, as they are on mine. I have seen pictures of Byrnes with brass slides as well, I think, but I’ve never laid hands on one.

Byrne flutes are really quite wonderful. I know I’m an Olwell afficionado, but jeepers, Bryan’s stuff is just great too. Excellent craftsmanship. I would say that his flutes are a little less up-front than your typical Olwell. Meaning, it takes a little longer (or, it took me a little longer) to get to know the instrument, but once I did, I really really liked it. Still do.

Carol can comment further, but I think she went through the same thing.

I’m glad you did, Stuart. I have nothing but good things to say about my Byrne, as you know, and I agree completely with what you said, but since I’m a relative beginner I didn’t want to leave the impression that I know more than I really do. I absolutely love the flute, the crispness of the tone, but what I think matters even more is that other people with much more experience than I have think it is among the best flutes they’ve ever played.

Loren, surely you know that there’s no such thing as too thin, too rich, or too many nice flutes. :wink:

And thanks again to all my flute friends who helped me choose such lovelies!
