No bargains at Claddaugh. 20 pounds sterling per disc.
Well, they were published by Green Linnet in the US, and now seem out of print. Perhaps with all the controversy at Green Linnet they have lost control of the rights to the recording.
I really hope this is the case because those recordings need to be remastered. I’ve never heard worse treatment of great music than the Green Linnet Bothy Band CD’s. I’ve remastered my vinyl onto CD and my copies sound better than theirs! Really. Maybe if GL lost their license, a new distributor can be found who will remaster them properly - Compass, Shannachie, Rounder, please?

I only have the “best of” cd. I would like to get some of their albums, any recommendations from those who have listened to them for a while (other than “buy them all” because I cannot afford that)? If you could only afford to own one or two of their albums, which would you buy first?
Bothy Band Live is great. It’s an album of two halves, recorded at two different concerts a couple of years apart. It’s all Kevin Burke - no Tommy Peoples - and the piper in the first half isn’t Paddy Keenan but it’s still superb. Sixteen Come Sunday and I Wish My Love Was a Red Red Rose sung by Triona are lovely. It’s worth having just for the track Lucy Campbell/The Laurel Tree! 
They have more than two CDs out, don’t they? I mean,
you can’t just say you want to buy both CDs when
there’s more than two, can you?

I can afford maybe one or two right now… if I can only have one or two Bothy albums in my music collection for a while, I would like to start with the best. That was my question. Does anybody have a helpful suggestion?

I just managed to get two of their LPs at a pretty good price. 
AFTERHOURS LP LIVE IN PARIS from 1978
and
OUT OF THE WIND INTO THE SUN from 1977
Both are alled to be in very good condition. I can’t wait to get my mitts on 'em!
BB’s 1st LP is essential listening. The opening track with The Kesh Jig became essential playing for every beginner - the quintessential Irish tune.
You can also track down all of the group with their solo/duet CDs - not a bad one in the bunch. Triona’s solo CD is great but they all have a great output.
Going slightly off at a tangent, there’s the truly wonderful, one-off album by Skara Brae which consisted of Dáithí Sproule with the “Ní Dhomhnaill Three” two of whom subsequently helped form the Bothies. The only thing that stands out as being in common with the Bothies is Triona’s voice, but 'tis verily a beautiful album - and they made the whole thing in just one afternoon!
