Uilleann Pipeworks of Boston . . . non-traditional materials, but a great price for a student on an extremely tight budget. Thoughts?

What’s the last name of the owner(s)? If the surname is Irish, they are probably OK.
On the serious side, it is a new operation. There is a previous thread on them. You also might give them a call to find out what they are about these days. That is usually the most help.
I presume that they’re using Patrick Murray’s cast-resin design from a couple of years back. The SCUPC bought one of Patrick’s practice sets. It plays well, and is a very good instrument to start with. A bit of a dead-end if you want to expand to a half-set or better, but it will definatley get you started piping.

This is Patrick Murray and a friend of his. They have developed the molded chanter design even further and, apparently, are getting good results [not my opinion, just what they have told me]
Careful now,
Patrick.
I just purchased a set and picked it up yesterday. I am extremely happy with my set, it plays beautifully, now, if only I could play as well.
These pipes are a bargain without a wait and perfect for someone like me who looking to get started up again.
Alex was great to deal with.
