I have the Bingamon plastic low D whistle. I like it and was actually surprized at how good it sounds. I’m wondering if folks who’ve played the low metal whistles by Bingamon would tell me what their experience has been.
I’ve seen a review or two of Bingamon high whistles, but not of the low. There is maybe one clip in the clips and snips sections from a low Bingamon, though there are more of the high ones. My guess is, if the practice whistle I have plays as well as it does, the metal ones will be good too. The variety of tonebodies and the options for small, medium, or large hands really is a plus here. I just wonder how they sound/play and thought I’d ask.
I have one of Daniel’s Low D aluminium whistles and find it very nice. Daniel is a gentleman, and a pleasure to deal with.
My perception is that the whistle has good tone, good stability and a fair balance in the sound. I have no difficulty with breath requirement. The finish wouldn’t win many beauty contests but the build quality is really solid and well made. The fingering demands the pipers grip, at least from me.
You can take a listen, I pasted a short slow air on Clips & Snips whish I played on Daniel’s whistle:
