This half set was made a year and a half ago and it is in good condition and actually I am playing with it at the sessions.
I bought first it as a practice set for beginning and learning and finally, after checking I was able to play this kind of pipes, four months later I added the drones.
The chanter is concert pitch, similar to Kirk Lynch style.
It is made in ebony with brass ferrules. It has three keys (C, F and G#) easy to play. It has two reeds, one soft and one harder. All of them are easy to play and works tuned.
The drones are in blackwood with brass ferrules and tuning slides. They works well, easy to tune and easy to play. They were reeded in 2006 summer, The bag is leather airtight with black velvet cover. The stocks are made of rosewood. The bellows was renewed last summer including new leather belt straps and new leather for the bellows. It is made of rosewood and has a pad for the elbow.
Reason for sale: I am waiting for my new half set and I need to finance it, but this set has an interesting quality/price rate and it is indicated for beginning as I did.
Issues: all the stocks and drones were checked summer 2006 and since then I am playing without any problem with this set. Price: about €1000.

Who made it?
I do not know the pipe maker because I bought in a music store. I think it´s not from a reputated pipe maker. It was cheap and quickly to play but it sounds well and has not many problems with the weather changes. I think it is not for professional pipers.
Sounds like a Sailkot special. I think you’ll be needing to post pictures and a sound sample.

It was “cheap” and you’re selling it for about €1000? May I ask why the price has been jacked up?

€1000 for a half set is very cheap.

Sorry, my mistake Manu… I read practice set when you clearly listed half set. My apologies.
I was playing last night at a session with another trad musicians and my half set was the only one perfectly tuned. This set was very cheap in origin compared with another half sets from reputated pipe makers as everyone knows but it sounds well, tuned and I like to play with it but I don´t want to keep two half sets. Although I play on concert picht and a flat C chanter I only need one half set to play. Once I have learnt basics on uilleann piping I have decided to buy a half set from a well known pipe maker from Ireland. I also play galician bagpipes (gaita) from 28 years ago and GHB.
First I have tried if these pipes were really for me and after completing begginers steps I have order a half set more expensive.
If I add to the original price paid for my half set the improvements, additions and renewals the final total price would be 1300 € and it is the really value for this set. Any really interested pipers can request or ask for photos or sound samples on mp3.
