does anybody know where to find bamboo stock ,as i am intersted in making some flutes thanks
If you watch eBay, you will sometimes find large lots of bamboo or other types of cane for sale really cheap.

If you want “fast” access to cured bamboo, seek out “Tiki-Torches” found at Wal-Mart etc. You can measure the distances between nodes for the key you like before buying. These are about 5 bucks a pop and much cheaper than importing. Some larger greenhouse shops carry large bamboo for stakes and will let you pick through the stock. and Landscapers somtimes carry big bundles of cured bamboo for fencing.
you guys are great , and after I posted this, i was reading and alot of good bamboo does come out of florida , i just have to find out were in florida, the tiki torch thing i will definetly check out, thanks
A lot of non “Eastern” bamboo flute makers miss this point:-
the embouchure and the tone holes should tend to be elleptical as in some professional bansuris and the chinese flutes (dzidzay) …
(I am not a maker of flutes)
