I am new in the Tin whistle worl. I am interested in making whistles by myself (there is imposibble to get one here in Cuba). I need to know the numeric relation between bore diameter, length of the tube and fingers positions… Anybody can help me? Thanks in advanced…

Typically the ratio of bore length to bore width (inner diameter) is 25:1 to 30:1. For hole positions and sizes go to Flute-o-Mat at http://www.cwo.com/~ph_kosel/flutomat.html .

Do you mean that if somebody sent you a whistle by mail, you wouldn’t get it?
I have a couple of spare whistles lurking in a drawer that need a ‘holiday’.

There’s still an US embargo on Cuba (for detaining cigars of mass destruction).
Now, I don’t know which taxes Yomichael would have to pay on your parcel–this is a sore point.

Well, i think to learn to play tin whistle first, and some thinks in traditional irish music, i think it is the best school (i like Irissh music too) After that i want to make Christian music with the tin whistle. I ´ve try to make some Cuban famous melodies, and they sounds good on tin whistle!

Yoemichel, hopefully someone will succeed in sending you a whistle and also you will succeed in making them. I’d send you a few, but unfortunately i’m a foreigner living in the USA, which makes it a bad idea for me to be sending shiny metal tubes to Cuba. 
Hang in there, things will change one day.

According to the UK Royal Mail website, there should be no problem sending things to Cuba from the UK.
So…
Some whistles are on their way to a holiday in Cuba.

If that doesn’t start a WHOA conversation I don’t know what will.
I’m going to send one of my books to him. There’s no taxes on it if I’m giving it to him.
