For those who had no clue about this tune or it’s treatment by the Tannahill Weavers (as I had posted about a week ago). You can hear the results of my harmony thievery on Clips and Snips. Due to limitations with my cheapo microphone I pitched it much lower than the recording I stole it from. Also to give a better feel for the melody I played the first A & B parts with melody only. Offer for sending copies of the music for the three parts to any interested is still there.
Cheers,
David
P.S. And while your there listen to Mick Woodruff and his friend Gary play Hector the Hero. It is truly wonderful
David,
Very nice recording. Loved the arrangement because it gives the melody a little more room and is not quite as dense as the Weavers’ version.
What whistles did you use for which part? Was the A the third, harmony part? When you, Jon, and I do it, what whistles do you propose? I have a good Bb, a mediocre C, and a low G. All the rest are Ds, including a low D. (I don’t think Jon has a low F either, but does have a Bb.)
When will you be over in the ultra groovy Pioneer Valley again?

Sindt A = melody
Silkstone Low D = low harmony
Copeland D = high harmony
As far as doing it at the Harp I was reckoning 3 Bbs (or 2 Bbs & an F) like the Tannies. I had wanted to come out there this weekend hoping to also catch a Burn’s Night but I forgot that I have scheduled a platelet donation for Saturday. I’ll keep you posted though.
Cheers,
David
P.S. I supposed I deemed Green Fields Market “slightly less pretetious” because it really is a CoOp in the true sense of the word. And that’s a good thing.
