So, it’s over and done!
I would say overall we did ok. We played at The Railway pub in Winchester - not a brilliant pub, but the attic space we used was nice. Shutting my finger in the toilet door should not be an experience to repeat, however.
We did four songs in the end - Star of the County Down with me and my friend on melody (she played fiddle, I played whistle), Swallowtail Jig with Amy on melody and me doing back up fiddle, Flowers of Edinburgh with me on melody and Amy on back up, and The Wind That Shakes The Barley with both of us taking turns with the melody.
Tunes were played going round a circle so every performer/ small group had a go. Our first two tunes went well and I didn’t suffer too badly from nerves. However, I fluffed up nearly a whole phrase on Flowers of Edinburgh - nerves and tiredness I suppose. But I did manage to come back in on time so the tune wasn’t a total disaster >< After that, the last tune was a piece of cake!
In addition to that, the shoulder rest on my fiddle broke (not a big deal - I played without it) my music stand refused to stay at the same height - and then I managed to knock it over ><
So all in all a mixed night, but I feel more relaxed now! The venue was small and intimate and everyone was very supportive
