He played the fiddle in the Ha’penny Bridge quartet with Liam Flynn, Bill Harte and seán Keane id I remember correctly.
Willie Clancy played the fiddle as well (and the concertina). He didn’t think much of Ennis’ fiddle playing it seems. He is reported saying that while there may have been discussions who of the two was the better piper, there was no doubt who was the better fiddler!
There’s fiddle and singing on one track of “40 Years ..” (If all the young maidens …). I always assumed it was Ennis who both sang and fiddled.
