Anyone in Hampton Roads/Suffolk, Va? You ok?

Crazy tornadoes. Flattened houses. Clean up just started.

Any trailer parks nearby?

I don’t know, but cars got tossed through building walls.

You mean “Tornado Magnets” don’t you? :smiling_imp:

ya know Emm, if we do they’re most likely busy…
and off the net

harpmaker’s daughter and son-in-law are ok, but their apartment complex was hit hard. They’ll likely be staying with some other relatives for a bit.

I’ve also emailed my son to see if any of his shipmates’ families were effected.

Well as usual we had no forewarning like we would in the mid-west, sirens, but as is sometimes typical in these situations the news as it was being presented seemed worst than what actually occured. Still and incredible amount of destruction. I don’t think they have had many tornados, possible F4, this strong in Virginia. Our home was hit several years ago and it vitually wipped out our street, just our side of course, and that was an F2.

I’ve got a good friend in Chesapeake a few miles east of Suffolk. They apparently didn’t have any problems.

My in-laws are a little north of there, and they didn’t see anything, either. Not even really nasty storms.

We are on the other side of the James from Suffolk. It hit us like a ton of small kiln fired clay blocks. One second it was just raining the next the wind hit 60mph with that classic tornado sky color. There was also a touch down in Gloucester Co., in their courthouse area, that has not been reported but they had thousands without power as of late morning. The last one to hit this side took the rear of our home and nine 75yr+ trees in our yard, but Hurricane Isabel made it look like a minor wind storm.

We’re just below Suffolk. One set of storms passed just to the west of us, another just to the east. Both sets of storms did significant damage along their path, but we got nothing but some needed rain. Sometimes you just get lucky, I guess. But having talked to some friends who experienced the tornadoes, I sure feel for those who weren’t so lucky.
