I’m looking for a Bb whistle.
Anybody have anything decent they’d be willing to part with?
Cheers,
Doc

Bump
Couldn’t you order a Gen Bb from somewhere?
Have tried twice, to sell a Chieftan Bb, purchased in Ireland. Seems nobody on the board wants it. It resides, at the moment, in the home of one of my band members. She has never used it… It is still available.
Best.

I bought a generation Bb once…couldn’t get a note out of it…ended up tweaking it to death.
I’ve had the same good luck with their D whistles.
I do have a little generation F that’s playable. That makes my odds about 1 of six for generation products.

Well, I just ordered one from Mike Burke a few days ago, so I’m guessing you could get one from him. I don’t think there’s much of a wait, if any.
There’s also the possibility of ringing/emailing Glenn Schultz, who makes one of the finest Bbs on the face of the earth, and for a reasonable price and short wait.
My Generation B flat is a super nice whistle, propbably one of my favorite whistles. Mine is in Nickel, I was told that the B flat in brass wasnt very good, but the model in nickel was excellent. Although i dont have a brass B Flat to compare my nickel to, i have to say that Generation’s B flat is a wonderful whistle, maybe you just got a bad one.
As far as I know, it is quite the reverse. You, and, incedently, I, happened to find a great Gen. My only one ever.

I have the same whistle and I can’t fault it, perfect pitch and nice bright tone.
It’s also a prerequisite for the many trio pieces for whistle/clarinet/tenor-sax in bossanova/Gregorian-chant fusion style
Gosh. My best Bb whistle is still an unmodified Generation brass that I’ve had for at least 20 years. I have a very mellow cane Indian Bb and a sweet skinny Dixon Bb that I love, but neither one has that indefinable playing-in-the-bathroom quality of the Genny (the current Dixon Bb has a thicker shank closer to the A - I have an early model closer to the C).
The overtones are complex and rich, and it’s got good volume. It sounds great on what Marguerite calls “the jumpy bits”. Bb is definitely my favorite key of whistle.
Okay so I’ve got four Bb whistles on the way and I’m talking to a guy about a fifth. I’m not out of control…I can quit this whistle-buying thing anytime I want …honest.
Doc
PS I’ll let you know what I think of them all when they get here.
Yeah you can quite any time you want  . You guys are lucky though you have jobs and stuff, i live off mowing lawns, brithday, chirstmas, and holiday money to get my whistles( I am only 13). There are so many whistles out there. I wanna play them all.
I’m enjoying a bit of a Bflat glut myself lately…let’s see:
Grinter red lancewood
Copeland brass
Abel blackwood
Schultz ww
Gen brass
Gen nickel
They’re all very good, but my personal favorite is the Abell. Both Gens are equally fine (and old). I already sold a terrific Schultz TW in Honduran rosewood some time back.

My Bb Gen is better then the other Generations I have but there’s some noise I can sometimes hear. Otherwise it’s a great sounding whistle. But I usually play my Bb Susato or my Bb bamboo flute when I want a Bb.
I sure like the rich tones though.
